What is an MXF file?

MXF files mostly belong to Premiere Pro by Adobe. MXF files are usually media container files used to store video and audio content in Material Exchange Format. Such MXF videos are mainly used to deliver advertisements to TV stations and for tapeless archiving of TV programs. An MXF file may also contain rich metadata, captions, and subtitles. The metadata stored in an MXF container may include video frame rate, timestamps, frame size, and custom data. MXF format supports various video and audio codecs. It is used to streamline multimedia asset sharing and media support between recording, editing, and broadcasting formats. Some Canon and Sony digital camcorders store videos in MXF format. How to open an MXF file

You need a suitable software like Premiere Pro to open an MXF file.
