- Oblivion Mod ManagerOblivion is a RPG (Role Playing Game), the 4th title to be released under The Elder Scrolls series. Oblivion features a very open-ended environment where you need to save the world from certain destruction at the hands of the Oblivion Gates. Oblivion allows for mods; modification of the original game that include various tweaks and enhancements. The broad scope of mods allow for a wide range of aspects within the game to be changed, from enhanced weaponry to silly tricks and mischief. The Oblivion Mod Manager installs Oblivion mods packaged as .OMOD. Mods using a different extension have different installation methods. This file format is classified as CAD/CAM.
OMOD file format:
To view or edit OMOD files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below is our analysis of the OMOD files:
The OMOD file extension is not common and predominantly uses a uniform format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 70% of all OMOD files use the ZIP format, that is, an OMOD file includes multiple compressed files. The included 4 to 120 files have file names such as config, config.xml, data, data.crc, messages.properties and \org\. Tip: If you rename the file ending to .zip and then double-click it, you see the included files and images. The files are 250 KB to 58 MB in size, with a median of 6 MB. The keywords KRSt, META-INF/MANIFEST.MF, J3sJ and META-INF/PK are typical for these files. The file name Oblivion GOTY T-rk-e Yama 1.3.omod or pharmagest-1.0-SNAPSHOT.omod is typical for these files. Files like these are sometimes connected to snapshot, oblivion, replacer, body, goty and yama.
- 20% of all OMOD files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "ÿÙÿ" at the beginning. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. OMOD files can be up to 810 KB in size, but are often around 2 KB - 42 KB. The file name body.omod is typical for these files.
The remaining 10% of all OMOD files are different files with different signatures. If you want to find out what your OMOD file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
