What is a PI file?

PI files mostly belong to Game engines. PI files are proprietary game data files designed to store visual assets used in gaming applications.
They are not standard image formats and are tailored for use within specific game engines.
  • PC-98 Game Data: Some PI files hold image data from legacy PC-9801 systems; these are sometimes called Picture Image files.
  • Game Character & Texture Data: Other PI files contain game character information and 3D model textures, as seen in some Naruto game implementations.
    • They are read directly by the game engine, so typical image viewers may not be able to open them.

    How do you open PI files?

    You need a suitable software like Game engines to open a PI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PI file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PI file directly in the browser:.     How to convert a PI file to JPG, PDF, HTML, DOC, ...

    How to solve problems with PI files

    • Associate the PI file extension with the correct application.
    • Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest PI file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Game engines update.
