What is an SDT file?

SDT files mostly belong to SmartDraw. SmartDraw diagram files form the largest group of SDT files. These files store drawing information created in SmartDraw and can be opened with the SmartDraw application (SmartDraw website).
Other SDT files include:

Java method trace files – These hold method execution data and code analysis information. Tools such as jGRASP and IBM systems (IBM documentation) work with these.

Java method metadata and sequence diagram files – Used for recording JSON sequence diagrams and related trace information. Amazon CodeGuru Profiler (CodeGuru Profiler) and AppDynamics (AppDynamics) are examples.

Video game data files – A small group of SDT files contain in-game data, such as sound data from titles like Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and Sega Dreamcast formats managed by CRI Middleware's ADX2.

Electrical measurement files – These store table data from measurement equipment. LabVIEW (LabVIEW) uses this format for recording electrical measurements.

How can I open an SDT file?

You need a suitable software like SmartDraw to open an SDT file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature.
