What is a TBS file?

TBS files mostly belong to FactoryTalk View.

How to open TBS files

You need a suitable software like FactoryTalk View to open a TBS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our examination of the TBS files comes to the following conclusion:

TBS is not a commonly used file extension and is used by different programs with different formats. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 35% of all TBS files start with the bytes SDT, which are crucial for this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are 100 KB to 7 MB in size, with a median of 2 MB. The file type is very recent. Such TBS files store data about trend, axis, data, position, control, current, speed and temp.
• 25% of all TBS files use ZIP compression, the TBS file contains a number of compressed files. A TBS file contains 3 to 190 files, the average being 3.
