Opening VSI Files
The VSI file type is primarily associated with Visual Studio.
What is a VSI file?
- Visual Studio Content Installer: These files come in the form of installation packages. They include starter kits, controls, code snippets, add-ins, item templates or other types of files that may be used in the Visual Studio software. Due to the fact that Visual Studio installation packages use the ZIP compressing format they are very similar to ZIP files, but instead of ZIP they use the VSI extension.
- Other Uses: The VSI extension is also related with the ratDVD software developed by RatDVD. This software enables users with ways to encode complete full-featured DVDs in one file. ratDVD is able to turn movies into a highly compressed RATDVD archive. This archive will be around 1 GB in size, while all the features of the original DVD and the quality of it will be saved.
Adoption: VSI files can be opened using the software that created it, thus Visual Studio. Other than this program, however, due to the fact that they use the ZIP format to compress, they can also be created and signed using the MakeZipExe utility. Both of these programs are only supported on Windows based systems.
How do you open VSI files?
You need a suitable software like Visual Studio to open a VSI file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your VSI file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a VSI file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

VSI file format:
If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. In the following you will find our evaluation of the VSI files:
The VSI extension is quite commonly used. The file itself predominantly uses a uniform format. The file formats most commonly found in VSI files are:
- 90% of all VSI files are based on the popular TIFF file format. TIFF is short for Tagged Image File Format. It stores raster graphics images that support color depths from 1 to 24-bit, lossy and lossless compression and multiple layers and pages. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. Most of these files are 95 KB to 9 MB in size. It is a modern file type. These files are attributed to process, image, zone, zoom, current, retassure, rnascoppe and sprobe.
- 2% of all VSI files are based on the zip format, multiple files are compressed and combined into one VSI file. Primarily 2 to 8 files are included. If you want to see the included files and images, simply rename the file extension to .zip and double-click it. The files are on average 680 KB in size and range from 7 KB to 680 KB. The files contain the following words: vscontent. A common filename is Zebra Scanner SDK Project Template Installer.vsi.
All other VSI files (8%) have no consistent format. These files are often connected to infection, xantho, bille, blood, slide or dapi. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your VSI file!
