WIN file format:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our analysis of the WIN files produces the following result:
WIN is a very common file type and mainly uses a defined WIN format. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 85% of all WIN files are Game resource files. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The file size is in the range of 11 MB to 320 MB. The file type is relatively new. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. GEN8 and FORM. The following filename is common: data.win. Such WIN files store data about player and game.
- 1% of all WIN files start with the magic bytes ANDROID!, which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. WIN files can be up to 67 MB in size, but are often around 13 MB - 67 MB. The keywords ANDROID!, androidboot, user, hardware and qcom are typical for these files. An example of a file name is boot.emmc.win. Files like these are sometimes connected to emmc.
The remaining 14% of all WIN files are files with no common format, the following 12 formats exist: EXE, ELF, GZIP, Project and Manual. Often described as image, vendor, modem, persist, cdqlist, install, splash, cache, miner or multi. You can get all the details of your WIN file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .win file to analyze" above.
