Notes about the WPS file extension:

Errors in your registry are one of the common causes for incorrect file associations on your windows system. It is highly recommended that you check your registry for file association errors (will also check for any other registry errors).

The WPS file type is primarily associated with 'Works' by Microsoft Corporation.

Some versions of Word will open some versions of these Works files; for others a converter may be needed.

One is available as the file WP6RTF.EXE from Microsoft. Go to the Microsoft Office main site and search using the words "works to word converter" (without the quotes) and various locations for older converters no longer available should pop up.

You can also get the Microsoft Word Viewer 2003 (search like above but for "word viewer 2003") and open the file in that. Then, select the entire file and press Control-C to copy and open another word processor (e.g., the OpenOffice.org suite word processor) and with the blank document active press Control-V to copy to that document. Much of the formatting should remain intact if you do this but, in some cases, some reformatting may be necessary.

Cannot access WPS files on windows?

When windows gives you an error message saying that it
"Cannot open WPS files", this means either:

A. You need to identify a program that can open the file
B. Or your registry may be damaged
