What is an AFPK file?

AFPK files mostly belong to Audfprint. An AFPK file is primarily an audio fingerprint file used to store a digital summary of an audio signal. It holds compact data that represents the unique features of a sound recording.
Use cases include:

Audio fingerprinting: Storing data that helps to compare and match audio segments quickly.

Audiobook container: In a few cases, the format is used for containing audiobook data, as seen with products by Audible.

How to open AFPK files

You need a suitable software like Audfprint to open an AFPK file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your AFPK file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a AFPK file directly in the browser:. AFPK file format:

The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension. AFPK is a very common file type and predominantly uses a uniform format. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 98% of all AFPK files are audfprint peak files. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. • 1% of all AFPK files start with the magic bytes NOTE: source file too long to process, this is not, which are always the first bytes of this file format.
