B3D file format:
If you can determine the file format, the associated program can also be determined. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our examination of the B3D files comes to the following conclusion:
The B3D file extension is very common and includes different formats for different programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 60% of all B3D files are associated with Blitz3d object. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The files are on average 160 KB in size and range from 6 KB to 1 MB. The file type is old but is used even today. The keywords BB3D, TEXS, BRUS and NODE are typical for these files. The file name 173_2.b3d is characteristic of these files. Files like these have the following tags: apache, guard, demon, mental, mobs, character, classic and anim.
- 20% of all B3D files start with the bytes BZ85 crucial for this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are often between 17 KB and 980 KB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. Article, ExtraInfo, Furniture, Header, LDistance, Thumbnail, Version, Name, RotationList, LDistance.Max, Drawings, Materials, FileType, LDistance.Min, Specific and OrderName. Files like these are about auto and save.
All other B3D files (20%) have no consistent format, the following 5 formats can be found: Hard Truck 3D models, DBody and Mesh. These files are often connected to pocketdimension, door, room, apacherotor, draconis, tentacle, arrow or sonic. If you want to find out what your B3D file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
