To view or edit BDS files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. BDS is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 60% of all BDS files are based on the well-known JetDB file format. The JetDB is a database format often used by Microsoft Access and Visual Basic programs. JET is short for Joint Engine Technology. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. Most of these files are 7 MB to 27 MB in size. The file type was developed 10 years ago and is still in use today. The files contain the following words: Standard Jet DB. Some examples of file names are db.bds or db12020.bds. Files like these have the following tags: nepalidate and compinfo.
• 15% of all BDS files use ZIP compression, so several files are compressed and saved in one BDS file. Such a ZIP file contains 6 to 200 files. Customary file names are Info.txt, demo.png and \light\. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. BDS files are between 2 KB and 13 MB in size. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. demo.
