Opening a BLF File
The BLF file type is primarily associated with CLFS.
What is a BLF file?
How to open a BLF file
You need a suitable software like CLFS to open a BLF file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your BLF file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a BLF file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

BLF file format details:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below is our analysis of the BLF files:
BLF is one of the most common file extensions and predominantly uses a uniform format. The file formats most commonly found in BLF files are:
- 75% of all BLF files start with the magic bytes LOGG, which are always the first bytes of this file format. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The average file size is 2 MB with most files being between 43 KB and 18 MB in size. The file type is very recent. The files contain the following words: LOGG and LOBJ. These files can be linked to logging, trace, flash, data, canoe, error, issue, ethernet, triggerf, current, trigger, after, check, comm, fail and temp.
- 15% of all BLF files use the same file format, which have the signature 15 00 01 00 02 00 02 00. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are 65 KB to 65 KB in size, with a median of 65 KB. A usual file name is $TxfLog.blf. Such files sometimes refer to ntuser, bcde, cced, software and class.
All other BLF files (10%) have no uniform format, often e.g. config and blf. Files like these are sometimes linked to nontrusted, only, nezha, hvac, mifi, application, cantrace, battery, vehicle, charge, drive, body, list, mode or time. Just click the "Choose your .blf file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your BLF file is.
Technical Data for BLF File Extension
a blf base log is a special file format by Microsoft and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with BLF files
- Associate the BLF file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open base logs. Because only the current version supports the latest BLF file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Microsoft manufacturer website after an available CLFS update.
- To make sure that your BLF file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .BLF file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
