What is a BRSTM file?

BRSTM files mostly belong to Foobar2000 by Nintendo. BRSTM is the filename extension of audio files containing sounds and music used in Nintendo Wii video games such as Brawl, Mario Kart, and Mario. BRSTM files are encoded using ADPCM (Adaptive Differential Pulse Code Modulation). The file begins with a 64-byte header, followed by a HEAD chunk, the ADPCM chunk, and the DATA chunk. The HEAD chunk of a BRSTM file contains information such as sample rate, decoding information, volume, and loop information. Nintendo Wii consoles have been discontinued and BRSTM audio format is obsolete.

How do you open BRSTM files?

You need a suitable software like Foobar2000 from Nintendo to open a BRSTM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
