How to open an NDS file
You need a suitable software like DeSmuME to open an NDS file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your NDS file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a NDS file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

NDS file extension format:
To view or edit NDS files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Below you will find our evaluation of the NDS files:
The NDS file extension is used very often and predominantly uses a uniform format. The file formats most commonly found in NDS files are:
- 75% of all NDS files do not have a standard signature. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The average file size is 67 MB with most files being between 16 MB and 260 MB in size. The file type was used 20 years ago but is still in use today. These files are often associated with pokemon, mario, black, phobia, platinum, xeno, super and europe.
- 15% of all NDS files have the same signature ZV-. They consist of unreadable binary data. Most of these files are 16 KB to 110 MB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as ZV-zlib. Some examples of file names are OVERALL.NDS or PRODUCT.NDS. These files can be linked to root and name.
All other NDS files (10%) have no consistent format, often, for example, SQL. Often described as enhanced, white, tnds, earth, heart or bros. If you want to find out what your NDS file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
