Opening BTC Files
The BTC file type is primarily associated with BarTender.
What is a BTC file
- BarTender Label Files: These files hold label templates made for printing. They are used by Seagull Scientific in their BarTender software. See Seagull Scientific for more details.
- Lottery and Trading Data Files: Some BTC files serve as lottery ticket files or store binary trading data. They are used in systems that manage lottery entries.
- Zipped HTML Content: A few BTC files are ZIP archives that contain HTML. This type is used by digital signage software such as Broadsign. More on this can be found at Broadsign.
- Game Behavior Trees and Bytecode: Other BTC files store game behavior trees or bytecode. They help manage non-player characters in games like Horizon Zero Dawn, Far Cry 5, and those using the Quantic Dream engine (Quantic Dream).
- Technical Configuration Files: Still others are used for technical data, such as transmission control data for calibration or fire alarm configuration, like those managed by Holley EFI (Holley EFI).
Purpose: BTC files function as data containers that store design layouts, configuration details, or algorithm data. Their purpose is defined by the software that creates them.
Functionality: Each file type has a unique structure. To open or view one, you must use a compatible program. For label files, use BarTender; for zipped HTML, unzip and open it with a browser; and for game data, use appropriate game development tools.

BTC format details:
To view or edit BTC files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the BTC files:
The BTC file extension is used by many programs, each with its own file format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 20% of all BTC files start with the bytes Bar Tender Format File (c) , which are crucial for this file format. These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. The files are on average 49 KB in size and range from 49 KB to 49 KB. The keywords M6_DRWCD, M6_LTYCD, M6_NEWCD, M6_PRZNO, M6_SRSCD and M6_TKTNO are typical for these files.
