What is a CDX file?
How to open CDX files
You need a suitable software like CorelDRAW to open a CDX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CDX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CDX file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

CDX file format:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Below you will find our evaluation of the CDX files:
CDX is a very commonly used file extension and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 40% of all CDX files are associated with Compound index MS Visual FoxPro 7. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. The file size is in the range of 3 KB to 170 KB. The file type is very old but is also used today. Files like these are about stock, users, acco, user, customer, employee, invoice, agenda, login and cust.
- 20% of all CDX files internally utilize the EXE file format. EXE is the abbreviation for executable and is the standard executable file format on Windows. The format can be identified by the letters "MZ" at the beginning. Executable files can also be used to distribute viruses and other types of malicious software (malware). These are binary files, so they do not contain words or text. CDX files can be up to 100 MB in size, but are often around 220 KB - 68 MB. Examples of file names are steam_api64.cdx or steam_api.cdx. These files are often associated with steam, game, shipping, eurotrucks, dying and light.
The remaining 40% of all CDX files are different files with different signatures, the following 13 formats can be found: ChemDraw model, FreeArc, ZIP and CDX. Tagged as warc, scheme, sekiro, archiveteam, agreement, skyrimse, fallout, license or yakuza. You can get all the details of your CDX file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .cdx file to analyze" above.

- Update your software that should actually open compressed drawings. Because only the current version supports the latest CDX file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Corel manufacturer website after an available CorelDRAW update.
- To make sure that your CDX file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
