What is a CFN file

CFN files mostly belong to AWS CloudFormation. CFN files can be used in two main ways:

AWS CloudFormation Template: These files contain formatted text (often JSON or YAML) to define cloud infrastructure. They let you describe resources and manage them as code in AWS.

Battery Measurement Data: At times, CFN files store power or battery data. Such files log measurements for analysis in tools like Battery Analyzer or BatteryMon.

How to open a CFN file

You need a suitable software like AWS CloudFormation to open a CFN file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CFN file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CFN file directly in the browser:. 5% of all CFN files start with the magic bytes 9A 99 99 99 99 99 C9 3F, which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. A typical file size is 13 KB. The file name test.cfn is typical for these files. Such CFN files store data about charge.
