What is a CVG file

CVG files mostly belong to Calamus by invers. CVG is the filename extension of vector image files created with Calamus graphics design software. These CVG files typically contain illustrations and layout designs stored as a series of points, paths, polylines, and fill paths representing a vector image that can be scaled to any size without loss of quality. Version 1.0 of CVG format used CALAMUSCVG as the file's ASCII signature. CVG is also associated with the IPC-2581 Consortium's Printed Circuit Board (PCB) and manufacturing description data exchange standard. The IPC-2581 standard saves all PCB and fabrication data in a single, XML-based data container that may include a netlist, fabrication notes, board layer information etc. Some PCB design and manufacturing programs that support CVG file format include Altium Designer, OrCAD PCB Designer, and Allegro PCB Editor.

How can I open a CVG file?

You need a suitable software like Calamus to open a CVG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. • 8% of all CVG files are Calamus Vector Graphic files. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. CVG files can be up to 30 KB in size, but are often around 360 bytes - 16 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. CALAMUSCVG.
