What is a CFX file?

CFX files mostly belong to Flow-Cal by Quorum Software. CFX file format is used by the Flow-cal application to save data related to gas and liquid measurement.

• Main Use: Flow-cal software is used for creating, processing, and saving the measurement information of hydrocarbon liquids and gases. This gas and liquid electronic flow measurement (EFM) information is saved in the CFX file in binary format and can be imported into the Flow-Cal application when needed. CFX file is the default file format used by Flow-Cal software for storing this data and can be used to create flow data, meter configuration, and carry out further analysis.
• Other Uses: CFX file format is also used by Lucene software developed by Apache. Lucene is a Java-based open-source text search engine library that uses CFX files (beginning with Lucene v2.3) as an index file format that can store multiple doc store files (each consisting of stored field values and term vectors) into a single compound file with the file extension CFX. Ansys, a 3D design software program for simulating fluid flow, uses CFX files to store information relating to the simulation's physics, region, and mesh.

How to open CFX files

You need a suitable software like Flow-Cal to open a CFX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CFX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CFX file directly in the browser:. Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. In the following you will find our evaluation of the CFX files:

The CFX file extension is used very often and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The two most popular formats are as follows:

• 30% of all CFX files store the data in the PDF file format. PDF is short for Portable Document Format, is a file format to present documents, including text formatting and images, in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view the contents and find segments of text. The files are often between 38 KB and 240 KB in size. This file type is new and state-of-the-art. Files like these are sometimes connected to sticker, window and jeep.
• 20% of all CFX files start with the bytes 3C 00 3F 00 78 00 6D 00 6C, which are crucial for this file format. These files are not pure binary files and are therefore readable and interpretable with a text editor. The files are on average 5 KB in size and range from 3 KB to 5 KB. The keywords <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16" standalone="no" ?><Trigger version="1.0" subversion="21" proxy are typical for these files. These files are often associated with orderwiz.

All other CFX files (50%) have no uniform format, such as ZIP, XML, GZIP, INFO, UqwJwsj and TOTALFLOW. These files are often connected to simulation, analysis, workflow, mimxrt, fluid, flow or sfdp.
