What is a CIX file?
Usage Details:
How to open CIX files
You need a suitable software like bSolid to open a CIX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CIX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CIX file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

CIX file format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our analysis of the CIX files produces the following result:
The CIX file extension mainly uses a defined CIX format. The file formats most commonly found in CIX files are:
- 85% of all CIX files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "BEGIN ID CI" at the beginning. These files contain text and words, not binary data. Most of these files are 2 KB to 61 KB in size. The file type is relatively new. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as BEGIN MAINDATA, END ID, BEGIN ID CID3, CUSTSTR, REL= 5.0, SIMMETRY, TLCHK=0, REL=5.0, TOOLING="", END MAINDATA, ORLST="1", LPX, LPY and LPZ. Files like these have the following tags: panel, side, back, melamine, left, sheet and rail.
- 2% of all CIX files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "B+Tree Graph Index 2 node_ref_lists=0 key_elements" at the beginning. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. The average file size is 3 KB with most files being between 72 bytes and 3 KB in size. The files contain the following words: B+Tree Graph Index 2, key_elements=1, node_ref_lists=0 and row_lengths.
The remaining 13% of all CIX files are files with no common format, often, for example, config. These files are often connected to base. Just click the "Choose your .cix file to view" button on this page to find out what your CIX file is.

How to solve problems with CIX files
- Associate the CIX file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open computer-aided manufacturing files. Because only the current version supports the latest CIX file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available bSolid update.
- To make sure that your CIX file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .CIX file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
