Opening CPD Files
The CPD file type is primarily associated with RoboHelp.
What is a CPD file
How can I open a CPD file?
You need a suitable software like RoboHelp to open a CPD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CPD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CPD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

CPD file extension format:
To find out what program is needed to open CPD files, you need to determine the file format. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Our evaluation of the CPD files is as follows:
The file type with the extension 'CPD' has no uniform or dominant file format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 10% of all CPD files are based on the well-known XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. The files are often between 640 bytes and 32 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as <?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>, <cpd>, <page>, pagefile, pageptr, <pagetitle>Page 1</pagetitle>, <type>Document-PDF</type>, pdfpage and <type>Document</type>. Such CPD files store data about trojan and daily, and often consist of personal data.
- 6% of all CPD files use the same file format, which have the signature # Plate Description Version 3. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. The file size is in the range of 13 KB to 52 KB. The keywords # Plate Description Version 3, # used for the camera calibration in HALCON, HALCON Version, # Description of the standard calibration plate, create, generated and HALCON Version 12 are typical for these files. calplate_80mm.cpd is a typical file name. These files can be linked to calplate.
All other CPD files (84%) have no consistent format, often, for example, ZIP, RIFF, KrI, KpW, Mjf, Upper and Character. The category is service, manual, series, data, pirates, ninjas, usbcpd or debug. If you want to find out what your CPD file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

a cpd project database cache is a special file format by Adobe and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with CPD files
- Associate the CPD file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open project database caches. Because only the current version supports the latest CPD file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Adobe manufacturer website after an available RoboHelp update.
- To make sure that your CPD file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .CPD file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
