What is a CUB file
How to open CUB files
You need a suitable software like Unity to open a CUB file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your CUB file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a CUB file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

CUB file format:
Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Our evaluation of the CUB files is as follows:
CUB is not a common file extension and includes different formats for the applicable programs. The two most common formats are as follows:
- 35% of all CUB files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "õãô" at the beginning. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are on average 2 MB in size and range from 660 KB to 870 MB. It is a modern file type. A usual file name is Game.cub or Game_en.cub. Files like these are sometimes connected to curtain, irony, hires and data.
- 15% of all CUB files internally use the Microsoft Compound File format, known also as OLE2 Compound Document format or Composite Document File format. Compound document files are used to structure the contents of a document in the file. It is possible to divide the data into several streams, and to store these streams in different places in the file. In this way compound document files support a complete file system inside the file, the streams are like files in a real file system, and the sections are like subdirectories. Header signature for the CFB format with 8-byte Hex value D0CF11E0A1B11AE1 (which looks like "DOCFILE"). These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. CUB files are between 980 KB and 63 MB in size. A usual file name is test.cub. These files are attributed to cube.
All other CUB files (50%) have no consistent format, often e.g. SeeYou Airspace, Isis Cube data and Object. If you want to find out what your CUB file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.

a cub container file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with CUB files
- Associate the CUB file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open container files. Because only the current version supports the latest CUB file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Unity update.
- To make sure that your CUB file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .CUB file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
