What is a CURVE file?

CURVE files mostly belong to Curve Graphics.

Vector Graphics: CURVE files are mainly used as a vector graphics file format. They are often stored in a ZIP container. The design data comes from Curve, also called Curve Switcher. For more details, see Curve Graphics.

Blade Profile Data: A small number of these files contain blade profile data for aerodynamic analysis. This use is linked to XFOIL. More information is available at XFOIL.

3D Model Data: Some CURVE files hold 3D model information by recording floating-point data in multi-dimensional space.

How do you open CURVE files?

3% of all CURVE files use the same file format, which have the signature 23 20. These files are text files and can therefore be read using a text editor. The files are often between 30 KB and 90 KB in size. The following keywords are characteristic: # Profile 1 at 0.0000%, 17.6665786 -2.09565164 0.0286254632 and 17.6666512 -2.09671638 0.0296213846. Examples of file names are profile.curve. Files like these are sometimes connected to blade and rotor.

All other CURVE files (22%) have different formats, often e.g. Sensor. The category is sample, shroud, content, peppan, gene, illustration, throughflow, vectornator, instagram, extended, simple, sales, bdbf, foie, gras, nasa, post, sans or sign.
