What is a DFD file?

DFD files mostly belong to Flowgorithm. An DFD file is most often a file that stores a Data Flow Diagram, used to map out processes and data movement. It contains information such as process steps, decision points, and data connections.
Most files with this extension come from Flowgorithm. They are used to design and view flowcharts that represent algorithm logic. For more details, see the Flowgorithm website.
This extension is also used by other applications for various purposes:

Quality Reports: Some systems, like those from Q-DAS, store 3D measurement or quality report data in DFD files.

How to open a DFD file

You need a suitable software like Flowgorithm to open a DFD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. DFD file format:

To view or edit DFD files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. • 65% of all DFD files start with the bytes 04 20 44 66 64 20 02 08 28 63 29 0D 0A 31 0D 0A, which are crucial for this file format.
