What is a DTN file

DTN files mostly belong to D&D Beyond. DTN files are used in different fields, and their contents depend on the software that created them.

• DnD5e Data File: These files store game data in a JSON structure and are used with tools like the D&D Beyond Character Sheet Manager or Foundry VTT. For more details, visit D&D Beyond.
• Construction Tender File: In the construction field, particularly in Austria, a DTN file holds tender information. It is handled by software such as ABK-BauData and works with systems like DataCAD.
• Music Notation File: Some DTN files contain data for musical scores. They are used by desktop scorewriters such as Dorico and are related to notation tools like Sibelius.

How to open DTN files

You need a suitable software like D&D Beyond to open a DTN file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. DTN file extension format:

Every file has a defined file format, i.e. how the data is arranged in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. In the following you will find our evaluation of the DTN files:

The DTN file extension is not widely used. Such a file includes different formats for the applicable programs. But the following two file formats are common:

• 45% of all DTN files store the data in the JSON file format. JSON (JavaScript Object Notation) is a lightweight data−interchange format. It is easy for humans to read and write. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view the contents and find segments of text. DTN files are between 980 KB and 1 MB in size. This file type is new and state-of-the-art. The files contain the following words: "en": {, "ru": {, "sourceList": {, "text": {, "title": ", "title": "Palyers Handbook" and "title": "Players Handbook". DnD5e_spells_BD.dtn or DnD5e_equipment_BD.dtn is a typical file name. Files like these have the following tags: spells, equipment and monsters.
• 25% of all DTN files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters " 0 001 " at the beginning. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. DTN files are between 72 KB and 690 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as 2 001 and GmbH. These files are often associated with malerarbeiten and datentr, and often include person-related information.
