What is a DVPL file?

DVPL files mostly belong to Wargaming client. DVPL files are proprietary game asset containers used in Wargaming titles such as World of Tanks and World of Tanks Blitz.
These files store different types of game data within one package. They can contain:

How to open a DVPL file

You need a suitable software like Wargaming client to open a DVPL file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your DVPL file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a DVPL file directly in the browser:. DVPL format details:

A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Below is our analysis of the DVPL files:

The DVPL file extension is used very often and has no uniform or dominant file format. The file formats most commonly found in DVPL files are:

• 10% of all DVPL files start with the magic bytes àSFV2, which are always the first bytes of this file format. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. A typical file size is 7 KB. This file type is based on cutting-edge technology. The files contain the following words: ##name, #dataNodes, #hierarchy, #sceneComponents, ../../Customization.yaml, #sceneComponentSets, Entity and SFV20. Files like these are about type, dicker, foch, dracula, object, black, smoke and tank.
• 10% of all DVPL files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "93 53 43 50 47 01 00 00" at the beginning. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The files are 480 KB to 980 KB in size, with a median of 670 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. ##name, SCPG, SForma), cubeTextureCoordCount, index, PolygonGroup, FType, rhi_, rimitiveU, rpacking(, aices and Pices.

All other DVPL files (80%) have no uniform format, the following 20 formats exist: RIFF, BKHD, DDS, AKPK and Compatible. Tagged as yaml, webp, packed, crew, voiceover or music.
