All about EDD Files
The EDD file type is primarily associated with Explain Everything.
What is an EDD file?
How to open an EDD file
You need a suitable software like Explain Everything to open an EDD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your EDD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a EDD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert EDD files:
- Explain Everything
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. EDD files are often referred to as Explain Everything data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- FrameMaker (Element Definition Document) by Adobe Systems Incorporated
EDD file format:
A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the EDD files:
EDD is not a common file extension and is used by many programs, each with its own file format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 20% of all EDD files are using the well-known Java file format to store the data. This format is used to save Java objects to a file (ex. save game state as file) via object serialization. Such a Java object may contain functions and data like settings, images or videos. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. Most of these files are 63 KB to 4 MB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as java.lang.Integer, java.lang.Number, java.util.ArrayListx, java.util.HashMap, valuexr, loadFactorxp?@, sizexp, loadFactorI and thresholdxp?@. A common filename is 20180601.edd.
- 15% of all EDD files have the same signature 47 01 00 00 52 49 43 48 50 45 41 43 45 5F 45 4D. These files are binary files, so they do not contain text, but only cryptic characters. A typical file size is 1 MB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as RICHPEACE_EMBROIDERY_DATA_FILE. Such files are related to galah.
All other EDD files (65%) have different formats, frequently e.g. .NET, DOC and RICHPEACE. These files are often connected to diagramma, edid or mhal. If you want to find out which format your EDD file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .edd file to analyze".
Technical Data for EDD File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.
EXEFile: %ProgramFiles%\EDraw1.6.4\EDraw.exe
an edd serialized data file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with EDD files
- Associate the EDD file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open serialized data files. Because only the current version supports the latest EDD file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Explain Everything update.
- To make sure that your EDD file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .EDD file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
