What is an EXD file?

EXD files mostly belong to Office by Microsoft. An EXD file is a cached version of a control type library (also called an extender file) generated when a user adds ActiveX or Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) programming language controls to an application. An EXD file contains descriptions of exposed objects methods, properties, variables, interfaces, and objects which can be accessed by Object libraries (OLB file) in a VBA application. Microsoft applications such as Forms, PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Visual Studio ship with VBA out of the box. EXD files are usually saved in the \documents and settings\%USERNAME%\AppData\Local\Temp\VBE folder.

How to open EXD files

You need a suitable software like Office to open an EXD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
