What is an FLC file?

FLC files mostly belong to Media Player by Microsoft. FLC files usually contain animation clips which are based on the FLIC format. FLC is similar to the FLI format but provides support for longer frame-by-frame video content. Like the GIF format, motion graphics content of FLC animation files use pixel-wise differential encoding between frames to reduce file size and the images in the file use Run-length compression scheme. FLC filename extension is also associated with presentations created with Show (renamed to Presentations, a presentation software that is distributed as part of WordPerfect productivity suite. FIGlet, a tool for converting text to "figletized" text (larger letters generated from standard ASCII characters) stores its control data as an FLC file which is based on ZIP format.

How to open FLC files

You need a suitable software like Media Player to open an FLC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. 70% of all FLC files use the same file format, which have the signature AF 12. The contents of these files cannot be read by a human; only a computer program can interpret the data. The file size is in the range of 7 MB to 10 MB. The file type is a fairly new file format.
