What is an FSM file?

FSM files mostly belong to FSM Designer.

An FSM file is not a single-format file but a container for different types of state and configuration data. How to open FSM files

You need a suitable software like FSM Designer to open an FSM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your FSM file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a FSM file directly in the browser:. A file format defines how the data in the file is structured. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. The FSM extension is quite commonly used. The file itself includes different formats for the applicable programs. However, the following two file formats are common:

• 40% of all FSM files use the ZIP algorithm, so multiple files are compressed and stored together in one FSM file. An FSM file includes 1 to 4 files. File names inside are material.lcm. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. The average file size is 790 bytes with most files being between 650 bytes and 1 KB in size. The files contain the following words: material.lcm. Files like these are about steel, mmcs, nozzle, stainless, carbon and acel.
• 20% of all FSM files use the same file format, which have the signature XFS. They consist of illegible, cryptic characters. FSM files can be up to 150 KB in size, but are often around 6 KB - 140 KB. The following filename is common: wp03_action.fsm or wp02_action.fsm. These files are attributed to action, event and talk.
