LCM format details:
If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Nonetheless, different programs can utilize the same file extension to represent distinct file formats. Double-clicking on the file often results in an error when opening. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our evaluation of the LCM files is as follows:
As a file extension, LCM isn't very common and includes different formats for the applicable programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in LCM files:
- 35% of all LCM files start with the magic bytes 55 AA 05 00, which are always the first bytes of this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. Most of these files are 130 KB to 300 MB in size. This is an old file type which is rarely used today. The files contain the following words: Blank and Friday. Files like these have the following tags: card, fhsp, exped, baja, lkpm and south.
- 20% of all LCM files internally use the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also called Compound File Binary File format (CFBF or CFB) or OLE2 Compound Document format. This general-purpose file format provides a file-system-like structure within a file for the storage of arbitrary, application-specific streams of data. The Compound Document format is always starting with the bytes D0 CF 11 E0 A1 B1 1A E1. The data in this file is stored in streams whose names are Audit Trail, Extended Information, File Comment, File Property, GUMM_Information, ICFObjectData, LSS Acquisition Disp Settings, LSS BaselineCheck Parameters, LSS Data Load Format, LSS Data Processing-1, LSS Data Processing-2, LSS QAQC Processing-1, LSS QAQC Processing-2, LSS SST-1, LSS SST-2, LSSExtStgObj Param, Mass Data Load Format, Mass Data Processing, QLM Data Processing and TLM Data Processing. The files are often between 100 KB and 1 MB in size.
The remaining 45% of all LCM files are files with no common format, the following 7 formats exist: FSMATERIAL, LiveCinema and LCM. If you want to find out what your LCM file contains, drag and drop it onto this page.
