Opening GDA Files
The GDA file type is primarily associated with GFF Editor.
What is a GDA file?
Some files with the same extension are used for recording X-ray diffraction data, formatted for powder diffraction analysis with GSAS-related software. In this role, the file stores measurement data used to support scientific analysis.
How to open GDA files
You need a suitable software like GFF Editor to open a GDA file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your GDA file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a GDA file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

GDA file format details:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The first characters in a file identify the file format, for example, HTML files start with the bytes <html>. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. In the following you will find our evaluation of the GDA files:
Files with the GDA extension are quite widely used. This file type predominantly uses a uniform format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 80% of all GDA files start with the magic bytes GFF V4.0PC G2DAV0., which are always the first bytes of this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are 500 bytes to 110 KB in size, with a median of 2 KB. The file type is old but is used even today. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. colm, GFF V4.0PC G2DAV0.2, gtop and rows. A usual file name is abi_base_focus.gda or exptable.gda. Such GDA files store data about base, focus, variation, config, jxmods, clothing, weaponfocus and fastcombat.
- 3% of all GDA files use the same file format, which have the signature XCB. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. The files are on average 34 KB in size and range from 34 KB to 60 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: .GDA format, xrdml Converted to GSAS ESD, (con= 1.0000) and BANK 1 2062 413 CONST 501.5760 3.1513 0.0000 0.0000 ESD.
The remaining 17% of all GDA files are files with no common format, often, for example, EHFS and filename. Tagged as itemstats, data, difficulty, properties, waddi, runspeed, rewards or item. Just click the "Choose your .gda file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your GDA file is.

- Associate the GDA file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest GDA file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available GFF Editor update.
- To make sure that your GDA file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .GDA file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
