Opening an IMZ File
The IMZ file type is primarily associated with WinImage.
What is an IMZ file
Most often, these files are compressed disk images used to store a full copy of a disk or a DOS system drive.
They are packaged with common compression methods such as ZIP, 7z, or BZ2.
How to open IMZ files
You need a suitable software like WinImage to open an IMZ file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your IMZ file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a IMZ file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert IMZ files:
- WinImage
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. IMZ files are often referred to as WinImage disk images because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Floppy Image (Compressed Image) by Towodo SoftwareFloppy Image lits you create image files of floppy disks and back (for backup, shipping or transfer). Save the image file compressed, uncompressed or as a self-extracting exe. Add descriptions to or convert your old image files. - WinImage (Compressed Disk Image) by Gilles Vollant SoftwareWinImage is a disk-imaging suite for creation, reading and editing of many image formats and fileystems, including DMF, VHD, FAT, ISO, NTFS and Linux. The disk image is an exact copy of a physical disk (floppy, CD-ROM, hard disk, USB, VHD disk, etc.) or a partition that preserves the original structure. The identifying characters used for this association are - Hex: 50 4B 03 04 0A 00 00 00 08 00, ASCII: PK.
IMZ file extension format:
To view or edit IMZ files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. If there are problems opening a file, you must first determine the file format used. Our examination of the IMZ files comes to the following conclusion:
The IMZ file extension is used very often and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. The two most popular formats are as follows:
- 35% of all IMZ files use the ZIP algorithm, multiple files are compressed and combined into one IMZ file. IMZ files contain from 1 to 190 compressed files. A little tip: If you rename the file extension to .zip and then double-click, you will see the included files and images. The files are on average 700 KB in size and range from 47 KB to 3 MB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. IMAWI. Examples of file names are dBase IV 2.0 UK disk01.IMZ. These files can be linked to disk, base, mswrd, pagemaker, aldus, spinnaker, edition, linksys, windows, working, better, driver, eight and card.
- 15% of all IMZ files are based on the popular PDF file format. PDF is short for Portable Document Format, is a file format to present documents, including text formatting and images, in a manner independent of application software, hardware, and operating systems. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. The files are 12 KB to 110 KB in size, with a median of 15 KB. A usual file name is Ust_Yazi.pdf.imz or Ust_Yazi.pdf (1).imz. These files can be linked to yazi.
The remaining 50% of all IMZ files are different files with different signatures, the following 8 formats exist: certificate, BZ2, 7z, QwIHC and backs. Often described as imzali, dosya, cades, basvuru, imza or proje. Just click the "Choose your .imz file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your IMZ file is.

How to solve problems with IMZ files
- Associate the IMZ file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open disk image files. Because only the current version supports the latest IMZ file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available WinImage update.
- To make sure that your IMZ file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .IMZ file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
