What is a JDP file?

JDP files mostly belong to Eclipse by BlackBerry. A JDP file is an application project created with BlackBerry Java Development Environment. This file contains project configuration, build settings, and references to JAVA source code required to build an application for BlackBerry mobile devices. BlackBerry Java Development Environment is no longer under active development. Its developers recommend using BlackBerry plugin for Eclipse instead. Only version 1.1 and older versions of BlackBerry plugin for Eclipse support JDP project files.

Because .JDP files can originate from various programs, they aren't universally openable with a single application.

1. Identify the Source: If received from a mobile developer, it is likely a BlackBerry Eclipse software project. If from a writer, it may be a JSpell Dictionary Project.
2. Check the Header: Open the file in a text editor or hex viewer to inspect the first few bytes.
   • Readable XML or plain text often indicates a developer project file.
   • "PK" suggests a zipped archive.
3. Use the Original Software: You usually need the original program to open it properly. Try BlackBerry Eclipse or JSpell, but if you are uncertain, ask the sender.

Customary file names are farm.json, field.json, grower.json, job.json, machineConfig.json, manifest.json and radFile.json. Tip: If you rename the file ending to .zip and then double-click it, you see the included files and images. The files are 39 KB to 1 MB in size, with a median of 270 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: farm.json and field. Such files sometimes refer to darbs and prof, and often contain personal information.

All other JDP files (4%) have no uniform format, such as BlackBerry JDE Application Project. Files like these are sometimes linked to medallion, ceiling, fixture, maufree, chinh, mould, mxbcq, tranh, cuon, mxbc or phuc.
