Opening an LSN File
The LSN file type is primarily associated with Sentinel RMS.
What is an LSN file?
LSN files serve different roles, depending on the origin. The most common use is as a Sentinel RMS License File that holds data to validate software usage. These files are processed by a dedicated license manager and are not meant to be manually altered.
Other versions include:
- Siemens/ABB License Files: Some LSN files use ZIP compression and act as license files or backup data in industrial environments. More details can be found at Siemens Support.
- Rosetta Stone Lesson Files: In other cases, LSN files store lesson content for the Rosetta Stone Language Learning Software. Visit Rosetta Stone for further information.
FilExt.com tip: To open these files, use the software designed for that purpose. For instance, license files should be handled by the license management system (Sentinel RMS Support), and lesson files must be opened by the corresponding language learning application.
How can I open an LSN file?
You need a suitable software like Sentinel RMS to open an LSN file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your LSN file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a LSN file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

LSN format details:
The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the LSN files looks like this:
The LSN file extension is rather rarely used and is used by a few programs, each with its own file format. But the following two file formats are common:
- 45% of all LSN files have the same signature hWLsPJp28mDzmInbFEc49. The contents of these files are easily readable with a text editor. LSN files can be up to 2 KB in size, but are often around 1 KB - 2 KB. The file type was developed only in the last few years. The following keywords are characteristic: hWLsPJp and mDzmInbFEc. Files like these are about license.
- 8% of all LSN files use the ZIP format, i.e. an LSN file contains several compressed files. 1 to 100 compressed files with names like License_1.sr are common. If you'd like to see the images and files included, just rename the file extension to .zip and double-click. A typical file size is 420 bytes. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. License.
All other LSN files (47%) have no consistent format, often, for example, CLesson and From. Files like these are sometimes linked to typs, tutor, lisans, overtaking or vacuum. If you want to find out which format your LSN file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .lsn file to analyze".

How to solve problems with LSN files
- Associate the LSN file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest LSN file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Sentinel RMS update.
- To make sure that your LSN file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .LSN file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
