What is an LSM file?

LSM files mostly belong to Zeiss ZEN.

LSM files come in different forms. The most common usage is for microscope images produced by Zeiss. These files use a TIFF-based structure to store multi‐dimensional image data along with detailed metadata about microscope settings.

  • Microscope Images (Zeiss): This type holds data from laser scanning microscopy. They embed layers and acquisition details. Use the Zeiss LSM Image Browser or ZEN software. More information is available on the Zeiss website.
  • Local Storage Manager Files: Some LSM files serve as game save files for products by X-Change Life, storing local game progress.
  • Linux Software Map Files: In a Linux or FreeDOS environment, an LSM file can hold package metadata or system mapping details.

How do you open LSM files?

You need a suitable software like Zeiss ZEN to open an LSM file.
