What is an MCR file?

MCR files mostly belong to 3DS Max by Autodesk. An MCR file is a macro containing a sequence of commands which automate user actions in various Windows-compatible programs. This, however, doesn't mean all MCR macros are saved in the same format. An MCR macro created with 3DS Max, for example, is written in MacroScript while those created with Macro Recorder are written in Visual Basic-like syntax. Another type of MCR file is a ZIP-compressed archive containing a 32x32 region of a virtual world in Minecraft game. CuteFTP file transfer program uses an MCR file to save its scripts. How to open an MCR file

You need a suitable software like 3DS Max to open an MCR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
