• 35% of all MDZ files are based on the Microsoft Compound File format, which is also known as Compound File Binary File format (CFBF or CFB) or OLE2 Compound Document format. This general-purpose file format provides a file-system-like structure within a file for the storage of arbitrary, application-specific streams of data. The first 8 bytes of the CFB format are D0CF11E0A1B11AE1 (which looks like "DOCFILE"). Sections and streams in the file have names like DocumentSummaryInformation, SummaryInformation and TemplateID. MDZ files are between 13 KB and 48 KB in size.
• 30% of all MDZ files use ZIP compression, so multiple files are compressed and stored together in one MDZ file. The included 2 to 30 files have file names such as \Inspection\inspection.xml. Tip: If you rename the file ending to .zip and then double-click it, you see the included files and images. A typical file size is 130 KB. The files contain the following words: Inspection/inspection.xml.
