Opening MGR Files
The MGR file type is primarily associated with Specialized applications.
What is an MGR file
- Electrochemical Data: Some MGR files store measurement data in XML format. These files, known as EC-Lab Electrochemical Data Files, are used in lab settings and can be opened with the EC-Lab software provided by Biologic.
- Game Data: Other MGR files are used in video games. They may hold game models, roster information, or other assets for titles such as Max Payne, GTA San Andreas, GTA V, Madden NFL 2004, and Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance. These files are generally accessed by the game or through modding tools. More information can be found at Rockstar Games and Konami.
- Risk Management Data: Certain MGR files serve as risk management files (often labeled as Minder Risk Management Files). They are used by programs like MindGenius; visit MindGenius for details.
- Project, Image, and 3D Model Files: Some instances store project data such as FactoryTalk View ME projects, image formats, or 3D models (even font resource managers). Such files require the associated software – for example, products from Manager.io (Manager.io) may be involved.
- GIS and Mapping: In a few cases, MGR files are used as ArcGIS map layer files or similar GIS components.
FilExt.com note: To open an MGR file, first identify its origin. If the file is XML based, a text editor may reveal its structure; if it originates from a game or a risk management system, you will need the proper application to view its content properly.
How to open an MGR file
You need a suitable software like Specialized applications to open an MGR file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your MGR file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a MGR file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

MGR file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. The file format can be determined based on the file extension and the signature (the first few characters of a file). If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. When there is a problem with a file, the first step to solving it is to determine the file format. Below you will find our evaluation of the MGR files:
MGR is not that commonly used as a file extension. This file type is used by different programs with different formats. The following file formats are most commonly found in MGR files:
- 20% of all MGR files store the data in the XML file format. The Extensible Markup Language (XML) is a simple text-based format for representing structured information: documents, webpages, data, configuration, books, transactions, invoices, and much more. XML defines a set of rules for encoding documents in a format that is both human-readable and machine-readable. If you open these files in a text editor, you can view and read the content yourself. Most of these files are 50 KB to 51 KB in size. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>, <Configuration Num="1" Version="1">, <Configuration>, YYYY, Demo="false" Beta="false"/>, <Info Soft="EC-Lab" and Windows Num. These files are often associated with peis.
- 20% of all MGR files start with the bytes 66 01 00 00 4D 4F 44 45 4C 53 5C 50 45 44 53 5C, which are crucial for this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are on average 550 KB in size and range from 550 KB to 550 KB. The keywords ANIM\MAINPED, Head and MODELS\PEDS\PLAYER are typical for these files. MXDs.MGR is a typical file name.
All other MGR files (60%) have different formats, such as MGR bitmap and MODELS. If you want to find out which format your MGR file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .mgr file to view this image".

How to solve problems with MGR files
- Associate the MGR file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open data files. Because only the current version supports the latest MGR file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available Specialized applications update.
- To make sure that your MGR file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .MGR file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
