What is an MTX file?

MTX files mostly belong to Cell Ranger by 10X Genomics. MTX filename extension is associated with a 3D scene format. MTX 3D scene files consist of ASCII text written using XML-style tags representing 3D object hierarchies, animation data, and global scene options. Such MTX files can be opened with CAD design software such as TurboCAD. How to open an MTX file

You need a suitable software like Cell Ranger to open an MTX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your MTX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a MTX file directly in the browser:.
