What is a P7M file?

P7M files mostly belong to p7mViewer by cryptigo. A P7M file is a signed or an encrypted email message or attachment. This file is signed or encrypted using the smime (S/MIME), pkcs7, or pkcs#7 feature of OpenSSL. CC sign and other cryptography software can also sign or encrypt such a message. S/MIME (Secure/Multipurpose Internet Mail Extensions) is the most common public key signing and encrypting standard P7M messages. It is used alongside tools like P7mViewer to decrypt sensitive emails and verify their senders.

How to open a P7M file

You need a suitable software like p7mViewer to open a P7M file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert.
