What is a PHP file?

PHP files mostly belong to PHP by The PHP Group. A PHP file is a dynamic web page written in PHP (HyperText Preprocessor), previously named Personal Home Page scripting language. It contains application business logic, database (usually MySQL) queries, and markup written in HyperText Markup Language (HTML). PHP interpreter usually renders the contents of a PHP script to HTML. The interpreter can also execute such scripts in a shell environment. Apart from web pages, PHP scripts on a web server may also return only JSON responses to clients or handle redirects. In some cases, a PHP server may rename the extension of a downloaded resource (e.g. video clip) to PHP.

How to open a PHP file

You need a suitable software like PHP to open a PHP file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PHP file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PHP file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

PHP file format details:

The file format, which is the arrangement and type of data in a file, determines which program can open the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension, and file extensions can be assigned incorrectly. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our evaluation of the PHP files is as follows:

PHP is a very common file type and is used by different programs with different formats. The two most common formats are as follows:

All other PHP files (45%) have different formats, frequently e.g. Photoparade Slideshow, HTML, JFIF, DOC, MP4, ZIP, UTF-8, PNG, JSON and extends. The category is blade, display, data, contact, print, video, card, crop or edit.
