What is a PKM file?

PKM files mostly belong to Football Manager by Sports Interactive. A PKM file contains data used by video games. Football Manager soccer simulation game, for example, saves match highlights in a PKM file that can be replayed in the future or shared with other players. This file is not a video clip; it only contains the game's representation of select match events. Banished city-building video game, uses a different type of PKM file to store a game modification package (a mod). PKM is also the filename extension of a raster image created with GrafX2 raster (bitmap) graphics editor.

How to open PKM files

You need a suitable software like Football Manager to open a PKM file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. PKM file format:

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. A file format is determined by the file extension and signature, so JPEG images have the extension .jpg and the first bytes in the file are ÿØÿ. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. Exact knowledge of the format is therefore important in order to solve problems occurring in files. Below is our analysis of the PKM files:

PKM is a very widely used file extension. The file type includes various formats for various programs. The two most common formats are as follows:

• 30% of all PKM files are GrafX2 bitmap files. These files contain neither text nor words, but only data. PKM files can be up to 4 MB in size, but are often around 8 KB - 1 MB. The file type was developed 10 years ago and is still in use today. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as PKM 10. Such files are related to alpha, card, image, battle, world, dragon, msdcf and dcim.
• 15% of all PKM files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "80 01 00 00 00 0C 00 00" at the beginning. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. A typical file size is 18 KB. Such files sometimes refer to translation, russian, bydarkbibou, unlimited, alkonavt, fishing, debug and dock.
