What is a PKN file

PKN files mostly belong to Packet Tracer. PKN files serve as game configuration files in certain software environments.

PKN file format details:

The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the PKN files is as follows:

PKN is not a common file extension and has no uniform or dominant file format. But the following two file formats are common:

• 7% of all PKN files start with the magic bytes 1콡, which are always the first bytes of this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. The files are often between 1 MB and 1.4 MB in size. Some examples of file names are Config_00000.pkn.
• 5% of all PKN files use the same file format, which can be identified by the letters "8D 9E B9 E1 88 AC 27 2A 27 7E C4 B8 DD 1A 38 82" at the beginning. The content consists of illegible binary data, which can only be read and interpreted by the associated programs. The file size is in the range of 8 MB to 21 MB. An example of a file name is Images_00000.pkn.

The remaining 88% of all PKN files are files with no common format, the following 5 formats can be found: Extron IP Link driver and vYD.
