What is a PYD file?

PYD files mostly belong to Python by Python Software Foundation. A PYD file is a dynamic module compiled from source code written in Python programming language. A dynamic module (PYD file) can be imported and reused across multiple Python applications running within a Windows environment. Unlike Python scripts (PY) which are saved as text, a PYD file is saved in Dynamic Link Library (DLL) format. A dynamic library is loaded into a Python script using the "import" statement.

How to open PYD files

You need a suitable software like Python from Python Software Foundation to open a PYD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. PYD file format:

Each file has a definite file format, that is, how the stored data is arranged in the file. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK.
