Opening PYX Files
The PYX file type is primarily associated with Cython.
What is a PYX file?
How to open a PYX file
You need a suitable software like Cython to open a PYX file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your PYX file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a PYX file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert PYX files:
- Cython by Cython Developers
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. PYX files are often referred to as Cython developers because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Pyrex (module) by Greg EwingPyrex is a cross-platform compiler for modules (PYX files) written in Pyrex programming language. Pyrex is a Python-based programming language that uses C-like syntax to speed up Python code execution and directly access C functions and libraries from a Python application. This file format is classified as Developer. Related links: Pyrex (programming language)
PYX file format:
Why is it important to know the file format? This is the only way to find out which program to use to open the file. The file format can be deduced from the file extension and the signature. Frequently, however, one file extension is used by different programs for different file formats, and one file format for different file extensions. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our analysis of the PYX files produces the following result:
The PYX file extension is rather rarely used and includes very many different file formats. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 15% of all PYX files have the same signature 23 20. These files are text files, so they contain words and text. PYX files can be up to 22 KB in size, but are often around 1 KB - 21 KB. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. # (the "So, # Permission is hereby granted, free of charge, to any person, # obtaining a copy of this software and associated documentation files, Copyright and Rothamel <pytom-bishoujo-us>. Examples of file names are renpysound.pyx or textsupport.pyx. Such PYX files store data about texwrap, styleclass and style.
- 15% of all PYX files use ZIP compression, so multiple files are compressed and stored together in one PYX file. one compressed file is common. You can see the included files and images by renaming the file extension to .zip and then double-clicking it. Most of these files are 42 KB to 330 KB in size. The keywords tmpUT and pwhI are typical for these files. Some examples of file names are w2.pyx.
All other PYX files (70%) have different formats, the following 7 formats exist: cython, from, import and PydevCodeAnalysisIgnore. These files are often connected to glenviron, cython, shader, glrtt, geometry or render. You can get all the details of your PYX file by dragging it onto this page or by clicking the button "Choose your .pyx file to analyze" above.
Technical Data for PYX File Extension
a pyx module is a special file format by Cython Developers and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with PYX files
- Associate the PYX file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open modules. Because only the current version supports the latest PYX file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Cython Developers manufacturer website after an available Cython update.
- To make sure that your PYX file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .PYX file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
