Opening an RSD File
The RSD file type is primarily associated with Rosetta Stone.
What is an RSD file
- "Root Object" - this object stores a general list of plans, as well as metadata; It does not pertain to any specific plan.
- "Plan Object" - a plan is defined via a road database, a road network, and possibly some sites; This object stores this data, as well as the geographic origin used as the base for the plan.
- "Site Object" - defines input and output data pertaining to a site.
- "Preset Object" - stores discrete parameters related to the site.
- "Unit Database Object" - stores information created by the unit editor.
- "Building Object" - defines information for a building object, but is not limited to just 'buildings'.
Other associations: RSD could also refer to Rosetta Stone data files, or RealSQLDatabase files.
How to open RSD files
You need a suitable software like Rosetta Stone to open an RSD file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your RSD file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a RSD file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert RSD files:
- Rosetta Stone by Rosetta Stone
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. RSD files are often referred to as Rosetta Stone data files because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- REALbasic (database file) by REALREALbasic was a software development application, published by REAL, that used the BASIC programming language to develop applications for Windows, Macintosh, and Linux platforms. RSD file format was a database file format based on SQLite. It was a database file that stored data in a structured format that can be accessed through SQL commands. REALbasic became Xojo in 2013. and this legacy RSD file extension may still be used by some Xojo developers. This file format is classified as Data. Related links: Info Page
- Resort Software (Database) by Resort Software Pty. Ltd.
- Visual MT (sound file) by RolandVisual MT is a discontinued visual music tutor software package, distributed by Roland, that included Visual MT software, a Virtual Sound Canvas software synthesizer, a serial MIDI driver, and a serial MIDI cable - providing connection of Roland digital pianos to a computer for enhanced music learning. RSD file was basically a special kind of MIDI format. This RSD file type entry is obsolete and no longer supported. This file format is classified as Audio. Related links: Brochure, Info Page
RSD file format:
If you know the file format, you can also find out how to open or edit the file. The initial characters of a file are called signature, sometimes also referred to as "magic bytes". The signature can be used to infer the file format. If the file extension or signature does not match the file format, errors will occur when opening or editing the file. So a detailed analysis of a file is vital in order to determine the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the RSD files is as follows:
The RSD extension is quite commonly used. The file itself covers different formats for different programs. The following file formats are most commonly found in RSD files:
- 30% of all RSD files start with the magic bytes 30 20, which are always the first bytes of this file format. If you open these files in a text editor, you will see only illegible characters. RSD files are between 1 MB and 490 MB in size. The file type was created 10 years ago, but is still used today. Several words can almost always be found in the files, e.g. data 0. Examples of file names are SK-ENG-L1-NA-PE-NA-NA-Y-3.7.6.2.r3.rsd or 00.rsd.
- 15% of all RSD files start with the bytes 0 1|, which are crucial for this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are on average 1 MB in size and range from 1.4 MB to 1.7 MB. 00.rsd or 0a.rsd is a typical file name.
All other RSD files (55%) have different formats, the following 6 formats exist: XML and RSD. Often described as modatabase. If you want to find out which format your RSD file belongs to, just click on the button "Choose your .rsd file to play".
Technical Data for RSD File Extension
The following listing is compiled from the database produced by the 'Associate This!' program, selected data from the main FILExt database and file extension information submitted by users.

an rsd language data file is a special file format by Rosetta Stone and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with RSD files
- Associate the RSD file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open language data files. Because only the current version supports the latest RSD file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Rosetta Stone manufacturer website after an available Rosetta Stone update.
- To make sure that your RSD file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .RSD file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
