What is an RSG file?

RSG files mostly belong to Exanima. RSG files are data containers used mainly to store game state information and, in fewer cases, scheduling data.

Raft save game file: These files use a JSON format internally. They are also linked with save functions in titles like Risk of Rain 2, with notes from RimWorld design.

Rugby schedule file: This is an XML-based file used for managing rugby match schedules.

The Lord of the Rings scenario file: Used as a scenario or mission file in The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King, this variant comes from Relic Entertainment and is also connected to Serious Sam.

How to open an RSG file

You need a suitable software like Exanima to open an RSG file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. RSG file format:

To view or edit RSG files you need to know the file format, because it determines how the data in this file is stored. It is easy for machines to parse and generate. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The files are often between 1 MB and 4 MB in size. The keywords checksum, data and date are typical for these files. An example of a file name is Manual Save.rsg or Auto Save.rsg.
