Opening a SIC File
The SIC file type is primarily associated with zenon.
What is a SIC file
Compressed Simulation Configuration Files:
How do you open SIC files?
You need a suitable software like zenon to open a SIC file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your SIC file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a SIC file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert SIC files:
- zenon
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. SIC files are often referred to as zenon settings because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Quicken (2002 Order File) by Intuit Inc.
- Systems Management Server (SMS) (Complete Software Inventory) by Microsoft CorporationWith SMS you can provide your organization a change and configuration management solution to deliver relevant software and updates to users of Microsoft and third-party applications.
SIC file format:
To find out what program is needed to open SIC files, you need to determine the file format. Each file format has a unique extension and almost always a unique signature. For example, Microsoft Word documents have the extension .docx and the signature (usually the first 3 characters in this file) PK. However, different programs can use the same file extension. Furthermore, a file extension can be renamed incorrectly and double-clicking on it will then display an error when it is opened. Knowledge is power - this also applies when dealing with unknown or faulty files. Our analysis of the SIC files produces the following result:
SIC is seldom used as a file extension and includes many different file formats. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 10% of all SIC files start with the bytes [Allgemein], which are crucial for this file format. These files are plain text, which means they can be viewed with any text editor such as Windows Editor, Nano for Linux, and TextEdit for macOS. The files are on average 5 KB in size and range from 3 KB to 12 KB. The following keywords are characteristic: [Allgemein], BeraterNr, Datumsformat, JJJJ, MandantenNr, [Satzbeschreibung], Ziel=LODAS, Version, Zahlenkomma, buchung, Stringbegrenzer=' and abrechnung.
- 10% of all SIC files use the ZIP format, so several files are compressed and saved in one SIC file. Primarily 1 to 140 files are included. If you'd like to see the images and files included, just rename the file extension to .zip and double-click. SIC files can be up to 11 MB in size, but are often around 32 KB - 10 MB.
All other SIC files (80%) have different formats, often e.g. UTF-16 (LE), 7z and GZIP. Just click the "Choose your .sic file to analyze" button on this page to find out what your SIC file is.
Technical Data for SIC File Extension

a sic configuration file is a special file format and should only be edited and saved with the appropriate software.
How to solve problems with SIC files
- Associate the SIC file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open configuration files. Because only the current version supports the latest SIC file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the manufacturer website after an available zenon update.
- To make sure that your SIC file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .SIC file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
