All about T3D Files
The T3D file type is primarily associated with Unreal Engine.
What is a T3D file?
How to open a T3D file
You need a suitable software like Unreal Engine to open a T3D file. Without proper software you will receive a Windows message "How do you want to open this file?" or "Windows cannot open this file" or a similar Mac/iPhone/Android alert. If you cannot open your T3D file correctly, try to right-click or long-press the file. Then click "Open with" and choose an application. You can also display a T3D file directly in the browser:. Just drag the file onto this browser window and drop it.

Programs that open and convert T3D files:
- Unreal Engine by Epic
See the previous paragraphs to learn more about the main application. T3D files are often referred to as Unreal Engine 3d images because this type of file is primarily created or used by this software.
- Fifa 2000 (environment data) by Electronic ArtsFIFA 2000 is the seventh edition of the famous FIFA football video game series owned and distributed by Electronics Arts. The game was first released in 1999 and it was available on Windows and Game Boy devices. Graphics used to render the game's environment are stored in T3D files. This file format is classified as Game. Related links: FIFA 2000
- Swift 3D (3D document) by Electric RainSwift 3D is a discontinued software that allowed users to easily create 3D images and then export them into Flash as vector images. Documents containing a 3D project created using Swift 3D have T3D extension. This file format is classified as 3D Image. Related links: Adobe Flash
- Topaz 3D (model data) by Topaz 3DTopaz 3D is a 3D modeling application. The program ships with a render engine capable of real-time simulation and it offers an array of tools for creating fully-detailed, realistic 3D models. Topaz 3D model data is stored in T3D files. This file format is classified as CAD.
T3D file format:
The file format determines how the data is stored in the file. Often, the file format can be deduced from the file extension or the initial bytes (called the signature). If the file extension does not match the file format, double-clicking on the file will cause an error upon opening. So you need a detailed analysis of a file to find out the format and the associated program. Our evaluation of the T3D files is as follows:
T3D is not a commonly used file extension and includes various formats for various programs. However, the following two file formats are common:
- 50% of all T3D files belong to Swift 3D 3D Graphic. These files contain text and words, not binary data. The average file size is 3 KB with most files being between 440 bytes and 110 KB in size. The file type is very old but is also used today. The following keywords are characteristic: Name, Begin Object, Begin Object Class, Engine, Script and End Object. Such files are related to body, occlusion, base and inst.
- 10% of all T3D files start with the bytes T3D, which are crucial for this file format. They consist of unreadable binary data. The files are on average 1 MB in size and range from 93 KB to 2 MB. Certain words are almost always found in the files, such as T3DF, E:\Wade\Desktop and penguinmodelfinal.swf. The file name penguinmodelfinal.t3d is typical for these files.
The remaining 40% of all T3D files are files with no common format, frequently e.g. rows. Often described as flatness. Drag & drop your file here to see the file format and a preview of your T3D file!

How to solve problems with T3D files
- Associate the T3D file extension with the correct application.
- Update your software that should actually open 3d objects. Because only the current version supports the latest T3D file format. Search, therefore, e.g. on the Epic manufacturer website after an available Unreal Engine update.
- To make sure that your T3D file is not corrupted or virus-infected, get the file again and scan it with Google's virustotal.com.
- Click here to open your .T3D file online - secure, fast, and no downloads needed.
